An 84-year-old man died on Friday night (27), after being run over by a bi-articulated vehicle in the center of Curitiba.
The two-wheel drive on the Santa Cândida-Capão Raso Line was making a curve at the corner of Avenida Sete de Setembro and Travessa da Lapa when it ran over the elderly man. The bus was not traveling at high speed at the time of the collision.
The bus passed over the victim, who received medical attention at the scene, but died in the ambulance on the way to Hospital Evangélico.

“The bus was coming along Sete de Setembro, it turned into Travessa da Lapa, the light was green for the bus. The elderly man went to cross, he was approximately 84 years old, and was hit by the bi-articulated vehicle”, explains Lieutenant Bruno Scandelari of the Traffic Police Battalion () of the Military Police.
Lieutenant Scandelari also reinforced the importance of paying attention to pedestrians in using the crosswalk when crossing bi-articulated expressways. In recent months, Curitiba has recorded several accidents between buses and pedestrians.
“The pedestrian crossings are the ideal places to pass, especially in this region here, where the bus turns, there is a lot of bus traffic, so you have to pay extra attention.” concludes the lieutenant.
