The re-elected mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB)announced the current mayor of São Bernardo do Campo, Orlando Morando (no party)as Secretary of Urban Security of the capital of São Paulo, on his Instagram, this Friday (27).
“I hope to bring good results from the successful experiences we have had, including the ‘Noite Tranquila’ program”, said Morando, in response to Nunes, in a video published on the social network.
The aforementioned program consists of blocking operations on vehicles equipped with sound equipment on weekends in the city under the management of Morando, using the Military and Civil police since May 2017.
This is an initiative to combat the so-called “pancadões” and peripheral festivities, which often generate disturbances.
Criticism of the PSDB
The mayor of São Bernardo recently left the PSDB and criticized supporters, stating that their values had been hurt.
“They exposed practices incompatible with the principles of ethics and democracy, under the command of Eduardo Leite, Aécio Neves and Paulo Serra”, stated the former tucano, referring to the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, the federal deputy for Minas Gerais and to the mayor of Santo André, respectively.

In the 2024 municipal election, Morando tried to elect his own niece as successor, candidate Flávia Morando (União Brasil). However, she only finished fourth, with 21.38%. After the defeat, Flávia was appointed special parliamentary secretary to her aunt, state deputy Carla Morando (PSDB), in the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp).
