Olhão City Council will have a budget of 72.9 million euros in 2025, the “largest ever” in the municipality, which represents an increase of 14.7% compared to the current year, revealed the municipality.
“The budget for 2025 amounts to 72,915,505 euros, which represents an increase of 14.7% compared to 2024, when the municipal budget amounted to just over 62 million euros”, informed that municipality in the district of Faro , in a statement.
The president of the Chamber, António Miguel Pina (PS), cited in the statement, highlighted that this budget, “the largest ever in the municipality of Olhão”, presents a value greater than that of 2024 by around 10 million euros “due to an increasing estimate of current revenues”.
The Municipal Assembly of Olhão approved the document on December 19th by a majority, with 13 votes in favor of the PS, six abstentions from the PSD and five votes against from Chega (two), CDU, BE and PAN, after having been approved, by majority, in a chamber meeting.

“We have to create better conditions for our citizens, however, we also have to generate wealth, namely by supporting the creation of economic opportunities for the installation of new companies and employment, promoting environmental sustainability, with policies based on solutions that aim to save and energy efficiency and adopting appropriate practices that affirm the sustainability of the municipality”, highlighted the president of the note.
The mayor also highlighted the transfer of powers from the State to local authorities, which is ongoing and will require an assessment of the adequacy of financial and human resources “case by case, area by area”, in addition to the modernization of services and improvements in customer service. , procedures and response to citizens.
In 2025, Olhão “will continue to invest, improve and support” other areas, namely sport, culture, accessibility and mobility, and transport, the statement reads.
