“It’s a sad time we live in, when people can’t even be trusted with cheese anymore,” one user commented on the photo. “Safety is safe,” joked another. “When I worked at Family Dollar (a discount chain), we put safety devices on everything. There were security wraps on expensive items and sensor stickers on things like canned meat for $0.50. It’s wild out there,” said a third.
A user who works at a supermarket also joined the discussion and tried to clarify why the company might have chipped the cheese. “I work in a grocery store, and in the last two weeks, the same person has twice stolen blocks of feta worth $100 (converted to 95.88 euros, editor’s note) as well as other expensive cold meats for $150 (converted to 143.82 euros , ed. note.) People are useless and thefts are out of control.” stated.
