The British woman revealed that she has not been warm for three winters. Is this possible? Yes, but even she says it’s no honey. But it can be managed!

Is it possible to heat in winter?

An article appeared in a British newspaper about a woman who does not heat her apartment. The fact that Britain has a significantly milder climate than central Europe certainly helps. It is definitely extremely important in winter, as long as the temperatures do not drop below zero. Then they don’t freeze the pipes, which could crack or directly tear the tiles from the walls in the bathroom.

While in Prague the average temperature in winter is around 2 °C, in London it is 7 °C. So in Britain, influenced by the warm Gulf Stream, it is theoretically possible under certain conditions to leave the heating off without your apartment suffering the devastating effects of frost. The advantage is definitely a household in an apartment building, which is partially protected.

However, it is not suitable from a hygienic point of view, and it certainly cannot be called a good idea either. Finally, the woman herself does not claim that she enjoys the winter without heating. But the trouble is worth it for the money saved.

It’s not just about how to warm up, but also how to keep warm and keep the winter out. That’s exactly what this post from the YouTube channel Poradíme how to do is about.

Catherine’s apartment is 16 °C during the winter

So how did the person in question manage it? Her name is Catherine Renton, and she is a young woman who simply did not have enough money to afford heating in her apartment in the winter. So she decided to hold out as long as possible and not turn on her electric radiators unless absolutely necessary. Surprisingly, it lasted until spring!

As she says, this is also possible thanks to the fact that her apartment is on the second floor. Thanks to this, he has a heated apartment above and below him. Moreover, the winter was mild and Catherine is young and healthy, so she must have been able to cope with the cold of her apartment significantly better. In her home, the temperature during the winter only reaches approximately 16 °C during the day. Although such a temperature is tolerable in the bedroom, because it is easier to fall asleep in a cool room, however, it is low and unsuitable for normal daily operation for many reasons. One of these is excessive strain on the organism.

How to survive the winter in an apartment without the heating on?

In her apartment, Catherine mainly insulated the windows and their surroundings with her own help. She faces the cold with layers of clothing and blankets. Although she has certainly gotten used to the colder environment, she cannot do without hot drinks, an electric blanket, or her dog, who not only keeps her warm, but also forces her to take numerous walks. Movement and keeping in good shape was important during the winter, and the woman enjoyed not only good physical but also mental well-being thanks to walking her dog.

Among the ideas that came in handy for her are, for example, the use of heavy curtains that prevent the cold from entering the apartment from the windows. In addition, Catherine also learned to use the electric blanket cleverly. For example, she used it to heat the bed. When the bed was warm enough, she lay down in it, turned off the blanket and covered herself with a thick layer of heavy blankets.

And what will this winter be like? Some say it’s rough! Catherine has decided to hold out this year, but it is definitely not certain whether she will make it through the winter.
