A woman died and two people were injured this Friday afternoon, following a firearm incident in Ice Palace shopping centerin Viseu.
O shooter is on the run and the police have already mounted a manhunt in the city. The suspect fled in a vehicle before the PSP arrived.
Still inside, the suspect was involved in a disturbance that involved physical attacks with the victims before shooting them, just outside the shopping mall.
Shoppers at the shopping center fled in panicwhile stores were urgently closed. In a video posted on social media, it is possible to hear gunshots and see several people running outside the mall.
A worker says he saw a woman with a “practically newborn” baby in her arms being attacked by another woman, who is said to be a member of her family, while “the men in the family who were watching threw stones at each other”.

The alert for the incident was given at 6:24 pm, said a source from the Viseu Dão Lafões Sub-Regional Command. A source from the Hospital de S. Teotónio, in Viseu, contacted by the Lusa agency, confirmed the entry of two people with gunshot wounds: a man with injuries to his hand and a woman with injuries to her leg, both out of danger.
The 44-year-old woman, who was in serious condition, ended up dying after being hit by four shots.
“As victims, aged 23, 44 and 46 of age were transported to the Tondela-Viseu Hospital Center, and, regrettably, a 44-year-old woman ended up dying in the hospital unit. The other two victims are hospitalized and under medical observation”, explains the PSP in a statement.
Everything happened on the -1 floor of the shopping center, which is closed, with the rest of the shopping center open to the public “with all safety conditions”, guarantees the general director of Palácio do Gelo.
“All procedures for preserving and managing the crime scene were carried out and other investigative steps will be taken with the witnesses, to determine the circumstances that led to this occurrence in coordination with the Judiciary Police”, highlighted the PSP, in the note to the press.
