Israeli troops attacked Yemen the day before. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Yemeni capital of Sana’a was hit by an airstrike on Friday, which Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels blamed on the United States and Britain. TASR informs about it according to the AFP report.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Houthis attributed it to “US-British aggression”. The raid came just a day after the Israeli army attacked infrastructure used by the Houthis at the airport in Sana’a, as well as power plants and ports in other areas of Yemen that are controlled by the rebels the director general of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was also at the airport at the time of the attack.

These attacks were in retaliation for the Houthis’ attacks on Israel, writes AFP. Yemeni rebels have been attacking Israel with rockets and drones since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip, which broke out in October 2023. In addition, they also attack ships sailing in the Red Sea. They describe it as a show of solidarity with the Palestinians and an effort to force Israel to end the military operation in the Palestinian enclave.

In return, Israel has already hit several targets in Yemen – ports and energy facilities in areas controlled by the Houthis. Retaliatory attacks against the Houthis were also undertaken by the USA and Britain. Tens of thousands of people gathered in the city of Sana’a on Friday, where they protested against Israeli attacks and expressed solidarity with the Palestinians, writes AFP.
