The year 2024 was marked by several escapes and attempted escapes recorded in the Acre penitentiary system. According to a survey sent exclusively to the website ContilNet by the Institute of Penitentiary Administration of Acre (Iapen), throughout the year, 25 inmates escaped from Acre’s prisons.

Despite the high number, the total number of prisoners who escaped from Acre’s prisons in 2024 is lower than that recorded in the previous year, when 36 inmates managed to escape from the units.
