Federal deputy states that the PSDB needs to talk to those who “want to get rid of radicalism”
The federal deputy (PSDB-MG) said he was betting on “reconstruction of the center” for the next elections. According to him, there is a movement of voters migrating to the center, contrary to extremism.
“I think the movement today is not about strengthening the extremes, as it was in the last two elections (2018 and 2022). The movement today is a certain migration to the center”said the congressman in an interview with the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo.
According to the deputy, the PSDB, his party, needs “talk without prejudice” with the electorate that “want to get rid of radicalism”. According to Aécio, his role in the 2026 election will be to dialogue with those who have already been on the side of the party and “trying to rebuild the center”.
“It may be a utopia, but my hope is that the extremes will lose strength. And then we have to be positioned to reunite these forces in the center, the same ones that made me almost win the 2014 elections”declared Neves to Folha de S.Paulo.
The deputy commented on the significant victory of centrist parties in this year’s municipal elections, in contrast to the defeat at the polls of candidates supported by the president (PT) and the former president (PL).
Asked about a possible candidacy for president, Aécio said he believed in a “conciliatory project” and stated that launching himself as a candidate could harm this plan.
“I want to speak again to the 51 million Brazilians who voted for me to say: my God, we cannot succumb to this. This electorate cannot be commuting. He’s going against Lula because there was a lot of wear and tear, now he’s going against Bolsonaro. And there? What are you building? People need to believe that a project in the center is viable”concluded the deputy.
