The city of São Paulo took advantage and recorded the creation of 211 thousand formal jobs in 2024, according to data from Caged (General Register of Employed and Unemployed), released last Friday (27).
The number exceeds that of all states in the country, with the obvious exception of São Paulo. In Minas Gerais, 207 thousand vacancies were created, followed by Paraná (167 thousand), Rio de Janeiro (162 thousand), Santa Catarina (149 thousand) and Bahia (103 thousand).
The state of São Paulo generated 647 thousand jobs. The capital, therefore, was responsible for 32.4% of the figure.
Furthermore, in the third quarter of the year it was 5.8%, the lowest since the beginning of the current historical series, in 2012. The number of employed people, 6.8 million, is also a record.
In the division by sectors, services represented 76% of open vacancies in the capital, with emphasis on activities such as labor recruitment, maintenance and landscaping of buildings, office and administrative services and hotel and food services.
“The scenario of legal security for entrepreneurs and the simplification and tax reduction for various segments promoted by the city hall encouraged the maintenance, attraction and opening of companies in the capital, generating employment and income for São Paulo residents”, says the municipal secretary of Finance, Luis Felipe Vidal Arellano.
