The heavy rains that hit the state of São Paulo in recent days caused the flooding of a football field in the city of Tietê that would be used as one of the venues for the São Paulo Junior Football Cup.
Located next to the Tietê River, which overflowed its banks due to intense rain in the region, the José Ferreira Alves Stadium, the Comercial Futebol Clube field, woke up completely flooded this Saturday (28).
In a note published on social media, Comercial says it will carry out an analysis in the coming days to assess the viability of the tournament matches at the city’s stadium.
“In partnership with the City Hall and Civil Defense, we are monitoring and working intensely to accelerate the revitalization of the stadium’s pitch and facilities. With the forecast for a reduction in rain in the coming days, we believe that the level of the Tietê River should drop, allowing the complete drainage of accumulated water”, informed the club.
Also according to Comercial, an emergency plan was drawn up to transfer the games to another stadium in the region, if necessary.
So far, the São Paulo Football Federation has not commented on possible changes to the location of the matches.
Initially, Comercial de Tietê would face Juventude-RS at the José Ferreira Alves Stadium next Friday (3), in the first round of the Copinha. América-RN and Operário de Caarapó-MS also have matches scheduled to take place at the stadium.
