The PSD parliamentary leader did not like the criticism from the PS general secretary, who stated that the socialists were always better at guaranteeing the safety of the Portuguese. Therefore, against-atacou with data from the Global Peace Index, but which also do not favor the Social Democrats very much.
Hugo Soares criticizes Pedro Nuno Santos and accuses the socialists of losing “their shame”. At issue are the words of the socialist general secretary, who stated that the Socialist Party (PS) “has always been more effective” than the Social Democratic Party (PSD) in guaranteeing the safety of the Portuguese.
“PNS is a laugh! The socialists have lost their shame! We will not change course”, wrote the PSD parliamentary leader, on the social network X.
Another point mentioned by the leader of the PSD bench is that, in the 2023 Global Peace Index, Portugal ranked the “worst position since 2015”. A fact that, however, does not support the social democrats’ argument – since, at that time (when Portugal was in 11th place), it was precisely an Executive from the PSD, the last government of Passos Coelho, who was in power. Dsince then, always with socialist executives governing, the country has occupied higher positions, varying between 3rd and 7th place.
The controversy at Martim Moniz
For Pedro Nuno Santos, the operation in question was “disproportionate” and did not have “relevant results”, but is seen by the right as the “key to the security of the Portuguese”.
