The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahuwill undergo surgery this Sunday to remove his prostate after suffering a infectionhis office confirmed this Saturday.
Netanyahu went for a medical check-up last Wednesday at the Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem, where he was diagnosed with a “Urinary tract infection resulting from a benign enlarged prostate“said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Since then, the 75-year-old prime minister has received antibiotic treatment that has cured the infection.
His office clarified that the cabinet meeting every Sunday will take place tomorrow as planned, although he did not specify whether it will include the participation of the prime minister.
Netanyahu already underwent surgery on March 31 to remove a herniafor which he required general anesthesia and from which he recovered in a couple of days.
The Israeli prime minister also required an operation in July 2023 to have a pacemakerafter detecting a heart problem during a medical check-up when he was admitted for fainting.
As at that time, Netanyahu faces a complicated political situation, now aggravated by the war between Israel and Hamas which has continued for more than 14 months without reaching an agreement.
