Christmas is a time when most people spend it with loved ones, but we also remember those who can no longer be with us. She didn’t even forget her friend and colleague Daniela Nízlová (38). On the 20th anniversary of the tragic death of Petr Fiala († 26), the singer published a confession on her social network. “Rest in peace, Petka. 20 years,” she wrote to his photo and added the song Modré oči.

His death is still not clarified

The young singer Peter Fiala may not have died as a result of a traffic accident, but of a gunshot wound. She informed about it in April 2005 in the main news program of TV Markíza. Two participants in the December accident, Lenka S. and Braňo Zelník, claimed that during the accident they were sitting in the car together with Fial in the back. According to them, the driver, Juraj K., did not respect the police patrol’s call to stop and a chase ensued. The witnesses had the feeling that their car was being shot at and that they probably ended up in a ditch only after the collision of the police car.

“I had a quick whistling of something near my ear, then I had a burn here,” said Lenka S. At the same time she noticed that Blood was spurting from Peter’s neck. The autopsy report did not mention this, citing a skull base fracture as the cause of death. According to the expert, such a quantity of blood, as stated by Lenka, could not have flowed out with a fracture of the base of the skull. The legal representative of the victims stated that he suspected that traces were covered up right at the scene of the crime. The rescuers were said to have been called too late and the car was too damaged for the extent of the accident.

According to their own words, Braňo and Lenka were deliberately stunned for a certain time. “I saw how the policeman took him to the ground. I wanted to get out and I got hit,” said Lenka. Braňo also mentioned that he “received a blow to the face”. They recovered while sitting in the car, while Braňo was the driver. Witnesses became aware of their suspicions about the course of events two weeks after the funeral. “It was so sketchy, only then did I remember the whole thing,” described Lenka. The police in 2005 insisted on their version, which was properly documented and the investigation is still ongoing.

The official police version stated that on December 26, 2004, a black Mazda 626 crashed near Oslan (Prievidza district), the singer Peter Fiala did not survive from the three-member crew. Lenka and Branislav escaped with minor injuries. The car was supposed to be driven by Braňo, whom the police charged with causing bodily harm resulting in death, as he had a blood alcohol level of 1.4.

A police patrol found the crashed car in a ditch. A car drove past the police officers who were stopping and checking cars in Oslany at high speed. The police went to look for the vehicle, but did not pursue it.

Both Lenka and Braňo refused. According to them, there were two other men in the car, Juraj K. and Michal B. from Horná Ves, while Juraj was supposed to be driving. This is evidenced by his jacket on the seat or the testimony of the taxi driver who heard the policeman speaking on the radio about people running into the field, TV Markíza reported. “I lent Juraj the keys because we had an agreement with Peter Fiala for the celebration,” stated Braňo. Juraj K. and Michal B. denied to the investigator that they were at the scene of the accident. Fial’s parents are still not identified with the official version, and according to them, there are several ambiguities or suspicious police actions in the casestates

An unmistakable smile and expressive blue eyes

Peter Fiala, who was also known for his unmistakable smile and expressive blue eyes, was born in Trenčín on December 29, 1977. His singing attempts began at the age of six, when he started going to the folklore group Jánošík in Partizánské. He worked in the ensemble for ten years. He then developed his musical skills at the Pedagogical School in Modra, where he switched from folklore to pop music.

He was a member of the group The Message, in which he sang. However, their promising beginnings were hampered by the breakup of the group due to different opinions on the direction of their music. In front of the public, Peter scored significantly for the first time in November 2003 at the BB Fest in Banská Bystrica with the song Rozpálená. It was on the basis of this success that the collaboration with the Forza Music publishing house was established.

In September 2004, Peter’s debut CD entitled Believe it or not was released, which contained twelve songs. The song “When Slovak is not enough” was the first to start airing. The next single was the song War and Peace, which was his most popular song from the album.
