The Dutch pilot Max Verstappen alerted the team Red Bull when commenting on what he expects from the 2025 season in Formula 1 After feeling closely the threat of losing the title to Lando Norrisfrom McLaren, the four-time champion demanded evolution from his team to be able to seek the five-time championship by category.
The comment was based on the history presented mainly from the middle of 2024. After remaining on the tracks and isolating himself at the top of the classification, he saw his car lose performance while his compatriot rival approached the table.
“If we continue like this, I won’t be champion next year. We have to progress to be competitive next season, we all know that”
The driver continued: “I trust that the team can correct the car’s balance issues. Some things we couldn’t change last year will be changed next year.” The statements were made to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
Unhappy with his car, the driver chose some vulnerable points he felt on the tracks. Below-expected performance on curbs and slow curves are aspects that need to be analyzed and corrected by engineers.
The critical point of their dissatisfaction was noticed after the Monza GP. After finishing the race in sixth position, he classified the car as “a monster” on the track. Not satisfied, he still determined that something needed to be done. “They couldn’t find the exact problem. The team basically started all over again after that (episode in which they gave a general scolding about the condition of the car).”
The interview was not just focused on Red Bull’s drop in performance in the second part of the F-1 calendar season. The controversy over the complaint of alleged moral harassment made by an employee against her boss Christian Horner also entered the question agenda.

“I made it clear what I thought about the matter. It wasn’t a bluff. Did I have doubts about my future at Red Bull? Well, the feeling wasn’t 100%, there was a lot going on. On the other hand, I don’t think if something goes wrong you can just say ‘I’m out’. That’s not who I am.”
Despite the tense year, Max commented on what was fundamental in achieving his fourth championship in the midst of so many adverse conditions. “The experience was fundamental. I stayed calm, didn’t force myself, communicated well with the team and worked hard.”
