CDU leader Merz is sticking to the call for Syrian criminals to be deported

Berlin/Vienna – The German opposition leader, CDU leader Friedrich Merz, is sticking to the call for deportations of Syrian criminals despite the unclear political developments in Syria after the fall of ruler Bashar al-Assad. “The country is still very unstable, we know that,” said the CDU/CSU candidate for chancellor of the German Press Agency. The Union has long been of the opinion that deportations to Afghanistan and Syria can and should be carried out in principle.
