None confirmed that they are candidates, but none confirmed that they are not candidates. It was the most popular exception so far: it’s out.
For months there has been talk about presidential elections, which will only be held… in 2026.
Isn’t it too early to talk about this electoral act?
No, according to Pedro Mexia: “You’re not going too fast”. At a time when “there is no one clearly ahead, I mean, it will supposedly be Gouveia e Melo, but no party candidate is clearly ahead of the others”.
“Of course, a year is a long time. But It’s not early” talk about these elections.
And the commentator leaves two reasons for his perspective. The first: “There is no announced winnerlike a former prime minister, if he were a candidate”. In other words, there may be balance, it may be worth showing up in the race.
The second: “There are several personalities from the same political space who may be candidates. The case of Jorge Sampaio: without the PS choosing him, nor having much to do with the adjustments, he advanced and won. Even the current president did not have Passos Coelho’s support at the beginning.”
