Gomes almost had his cell phone stolen on Saturday (Dec 28); the Mesquita clock was taken by an armed man on Friday

Journalists Márcio Gomes and Otávio Mesquita were victims of robberies in São Paulo this week. Gomes was attempted on Saturday afternoon (Dec 28, 2024), while he was in his car. Mesquita had his watch stolen on Friday (Dec 27).

In , the anchor of CNN Brazil reported the episode. He said he was stopped in traffic on the Eusébio Matoso bridge, towards the Raposo Tavares highway, when he saw a man, with a stone, approaching his car.

“He wanted to take my cell phone. There was a small scuffle. He couldn’t take my cell phone. I’m super scared, super upset. […] Pay close attention to traffic”these.

Gomes also showed that he cut his hand when trying to hold the window of the car hit by the man with the rock. He also injured his leg with the broken glass.

Despite what happened, the journalist thanked the people who helped him after the incident.

“As much as we get scared and disappointed every day, there are still good people who help, who care. People care and that is the objective of this message”he stated.

Otávio Mesquita also reported the robbery he suffered in a . The journalist and presenter was leaving a pharmacy in the Morumbi neighborhood when he was approached by an armed man.

“I gave him the watch. He put the gun in his pocket, walked away and got on a motorcycle about 30 meters later.”these.

Mesquita asked people to be careful. “Unfortunately, the end of the year is always like this, be careful, don’t go out on a motorcycle or with valuables”said in the caption of the publication.
