Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban movement announced on Monday that will withdraw the operating permit from all domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations in the event that they will employ women. TASR informs according to Monday’s AP report.
The announcement by the Taliban government comes two years after non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan banned the employment of women allegedly because they do not wear the Islamic headscarf according to regulations.
In a letter published on Sunday on the X platform, the Afghan Ministry of Economy warned that in case of non-compliance with this regulation, NGOs will lose their permission to operate in Afghanistan. At the same time, the government re-ordered stopping all work by women in non-Taliban-run institutionsfollows from the letter.
“In case non-cooperation, all activities of the given institution will be cancelled a the permission for the activity of this institution granted by the Ministry will be withdrawn,” added the department.
