Palmeiras supplier loses R$1.5 million in stolen grass

Group of 10 people used 3 trucks to steal synthetic grass coils from Soccer Grass, in São Paulo

Around 10 thieves broke into the Soccer Grass warehouse, in the Pedreira neighborhood, south of São Paulo, on the night of 2th fair (Dec 23, 2024). They stole approximately R$1.5 million in coils of synthetic grass, each weighing more than 250 kilos. The criminals used 3 trucks to transport the material during the Christmas break.

Alessandro Oliveira, president of Soccer Grass, stated that the stolen material would be sent to the FIFA Training Center in Balneário Camboriú, in Santa Catarina. The company also supplies synthetic grass at Allianz Parque. The Palmeiras stadium has been using this type of lawn since February 2020.

Security cameras recorded the movement of the suspects at the scene. However, thieves damaged the devices and took the stored images, making identification difficult. The information was released by the portal .

Alessandro Oliveira reported that the criminals stayed there for more than 4 hours. “They arrived on Sunday night and stayed until dawn. We work with a very specific product, and we can locate the material anywhere in Brazil”he stated.

The businessman asked the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat for a rigorous investigation. “We have been in the market for 30 years and we have never faced this. The police are already investigating, but we ask for their efforts to discover the gang involved,” he said.
