What are the advantages and disadvantages of a cleansing diet? Who can undergo detox and for whom it is not recommended? You will find answers to these and other questions in this article.

Its use requires temporarily eliminating some foods from the menu in favor of those supporting detoxification processes. It is worth being aware that there are several types of it, including:

  • cocktail detoxwhich is similar to the previous one, with the difference that the basis of the menu are cocktails made of fruit, vegetables, herbs, spices and other additives, e.g. kefir or yogurt;

  • detox using herbswhich involves consuming herbal infusions;
  • vegetable and fruit detoxin which only vegetables and fruits are allowed, e.g. in raw form or cream soup;
  • easily digestible dietwhere you can eat easily digestible meals enriched with products that help cleanse the body of toxins.

Now that you know what a cleansing diet is, it is worth answering the question who can go on detox. Well, it may bring some benefits to people who want to get rid of excess water from the body and to those who want to support the functioning of their digestive system, e.g. after overeating during the holidays. However, please remember that it is not suitable for everyone. Contraindications to its use include:

  • diabetes,
  • insulin resistance,
  • anemia,
  • digestive system diseases,
  • cancer diseases,
  • blood pressure problems,
  • heart, kidney and liver disorders,
  • epilepsy,
  • eating disorders
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding,
  • young and old age (children, teenagers, seniors),
  • hard physical work,
  • convalescence after illness, procedure or surgery.

If you are interested in a quick detoxifying diet and plan to implement it soon, for your own safety, consult a doctor or a clinical dietitian. This action is advisable even if you are not struggling with any health problems.

What are the benefits of a cleansing diet? If you do it properly, it can bring you various benefits. After using it, many people feel more energy and feel better – both physically and mentally. In addition, detox can support the functioning of your digestive system and help improve concentration. It is also worth mentioning the loss of excess water from the body.

You should be aware that although the cleansing diet has a number of advantages, it is not without disadvantages. Its improper use may lead to deficiencies of important vitamins and minerals, electrolyte disorders, slower metabolism and weakening of the body. It is also important that scientific research confirming its effectiveness is very limited, and information regarding its benefits results mostly from the subjective feelings of people using it.

What should a quick toxin cleansing diet look like? First of all, it requires eliminating certain foods from the menu. We are talking mainly about highly processed products, including salty snacks, sweets, fast food and instant meals. The prohibited list also includes sweet drinks, confectionery, white bread, fried foods and alcohol. Avoid any ingredients containing trans fats, added sugar, sweeteners, and artificial colors, preservatives, and flavors.

The basis of detox are vegetables and fruits, which are rich in vitamins, minerals and bioactive compounds. It is also worth reaching for herbs and spices, including cinnamon, turmeric, cloves, ginger, mint, nettle, oregano, and rosemary, as well as green tea, pickles and healthy fats, e.g. olive oil, nuts and linseed oil.

If you choose balanced meals, make sure that they include sources of high-quality protein, e.g. lean meat, eggs and fish, and complex carbohydrates, such as wholegrain groats or flakes. With all this, do not forget about proper hydration and try to drink at least two liters of water a day.

Ingredients:

  • 200 ml of vegetable broth,

Salad with quinoa and turkey breast

Ingredients:

  • 200 g of vegetables, e.g. peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers,
  • 5 g parsley.

Preparation method: Cook the quinoa according to the instructions on the package. Season the meat with your favorite spices and fry it on a grill pan. Cut them into smaller pieces and mix in a bowl with cooked quinoa and selected vegetables. Finally, sprinkle the dish with parsley and pour a dressing based on olive oil and lemon juice.
