The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) reported on this on its website.

The first-level fog warning is valid until 09:00. for all districts of SR. “Fog is expected in places with visibility of 50 to 200 meters,” approached the meteorologist. They also expect ice and warned of the potential danger to human activities.

In connection with the fog, Bratislava police appeal to drivers to observe the prescribed lighting on motor vehicles. “It is necessary for them to use dipped headlights and turn on the so-called fog lights outside the village when thick fog persists,” said Bratislava regional police spokeswoman Silvia Šimková. It also calls for greater caution and attention in road traffic.

They issued a first level warning for the occurrence of PM10 particles. According to meteorologists, the most sensitive population groups to particles include the elderly, people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, allergy sufferers and asthmatics, very young children and pregnant women. Therefore, they advise to limit the stay and physical activities outside and also to reduce the ventilation of living rooms.

According to them, in sensitive persons, acute effects can be manifested in the form of irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, feelings of pressure on the breasts, cough and headache. In asthmatics, they can cause attacks and symptoms of respiratory tract irritation.
