Moisture is one of the biggest problems we can have in our cars. It is especially visible in autumn and winter, when it rains more and more often. This is when a white coating appears most easily on our windows, making it difficult to see. How to prevent it?

What are the causes of moisture in the car?

There can be several causes of moisture in the car and before the fall and winter season, it’s worth checking each one out. First of all, it can be a leaky door, window, trunk or sunroof seal. In these places, water can seep in and cause the humidity level to rise.

The second problem is clogged drains. They are located on the windshield, next to the sunroof and air conditioning. In such a situation, water seeps inside. Other causes of moisture in a car include wet carpet, a dirty or damp cabin filter, and a malfunctioning air conditioner.

This trick will help you get rid of moisture in your car once and for all

If you don’t want to buy expensive and professional car moisture absorbers, you can use a great product that is available in many homes and practically every store. This is cat litter. However, it must be a special kind – a silicone litter. Thanks to this, it will not crumble or leave dust in the car, and it absorbs excess moisture just as well.

  • You can put it in a plastic bag, or best place it in a breathable bag, e.g. made of cotton, with fastening. This will get rid of excess moisture and protect its contents from spillage.
  • Place the prepared bag in the place where there is the most moisture inside the car.
