Puff pastry with bacon twisted as a spiral and sprinkled generously parmesan it’s an easy and quick appetizer for any party. This flavor combination is classic and addition of rosemary adds a pleasant herbal flavor to the snack. You can successfully use prosciutto or a bit of sage instead of bacon. The whole thing tastes best warm, immediately after preparation, while it is crispy. These sticks are a guarantee of a successful event, regardless of the occasion.
To prepare this snack, you will need:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry,
- 12 slices of steamed bacon,
- 50 g grated parmesan cheese,
- 1 large egg,
- 1 tablespoon of dijon mustard,
- ½ teaspoon of rosemary.
Additionally:
- egg for brushing,
- Parmesan cheese for sprinkling.
Ready-made snacks can be served alone or prepared for it homemade sauce. It will fit perfectly here a dip based on Greek yogurt, pressed garlic, chopped herbs, e.g. dill, chives and mint, lime juice, and salt and pepper.
In a bowl, mix the egg, mustard and rosemary until smooth. Unroll the puff pastry on the counter. Brush them evenly with the egg mixture, then sprinkle half of them along the short side with cheese. Fold the dough over, covering the cheese. Squeeze gently.
Cut the puff pastry into 12 equal strips. Place slices of bacon folded in half on each of them to prevent the meat from extending too far beyond the edge of the dough. Stretch them slightly so that they cover the entire length of the belt. Twist the dough with bacon about 4 times, creating a spiral. Place them on a baking tray lined with paper.
Beat the egg to be brushed in a separate bowl and spread it evenly over the spirals. Sprinkle everything with additional cheese. Leave about 2 cm of space between each stick. Put the whole thing in the oven set to 200 degrees Celsius and bake for 25-35 minutes until nicely golden and crispy.
Serve the puff pastry with bacon warm immediately after preparation. Reheat in the oven if necessary.
