The Polish chain Half Price, known in its home country for affordable prices, has already crossed the border. Czechs can buy clothes there, but also other household products and the like.

Whether we are well off as Central European nations or not, a question on which people will probably never agree, shops with cheaper goods are always a great attraction. That’s why all kinds of discounters are doing so well, whether it’s household items, clothes or other products. Half Price is definitely one of those, and if you don’t want to go to Poland for such shopping, you can go to Prague, for example.

How about the discounts? One of the opinions is offered on YouTube by Starej Fotr:

How are they different?

Favorable discounts, a wide assortment and frequent discounts are the attractions that attract crowds of people, including Czechs, to this discount chain. What is actually behind its success, when there are seemingly countless similar ones in many cities? Are they the same or not? While other discount stores, such as another novelty on the Czech market – Primark – focus on selling cheap fashion, the quality of which corresponds to the low price, Half Price takes a different route. On racks and shelves we can find mostly branded goods, but at much lower prices.

Longer journey of goods to the store

The truth is that before such goods end up in the store of the mentioned brand, they usually go through a regular and branded discount store before reaching Half Price. So even though it may not be products that will catch the attention of those of us who can afford not to look at the price at first glance, according to customers, practically everyone will find their desired piece here, it might just take a while. In addition, discounts, even really big ones, are the order of the day here. Who could resist?

People are crazy about discounts

Even though the chain has been in the Czech Republic since 2021, the opening of its largest European branch right in the center of the historic part of Prague on Wenceslas Square caused a literal crowd frenzy. The shop in the Nový Smíchov shopping center and earlier also in Galeria Harfa, Letňany or Arkády Pankrác also attracted great interest.

Reviews on the web

The reviews on the website are entirely positive about this store, although of course, as everywhere, there are also dissatisfied customers. They complain about longer delivery times when ordering from an online store, or, in their opinion, low-quality goods.
