‘It has been proven that it is essential to commit new values, with the potential value of R$ 370 million being indicated so far, for the purposes of complying with the constitutional minimum in health’, says Flávio José Roman
The Federal Attorney General’s Office (AGU) made a request to the minister, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), for them to be released for health reasons. The AGU argues that the amount of R$370 million is crucial to ensure compliance with the constitutional minimum spending in the health sector.
“It has been proven that it is essential to commit new values, with the potential value of R$ 370 million being indicated so far, for the purposes of complying with the constitutional minimum in health”, states the deputy Union attorney general, Flávio José Roman, in document.
In response to the request made on Monday (30) and reinforced this Tuesday (31), the minister requested that the AGU present evidence of the need for the requested amounts, in addition to clarifications on the origin of the resources (from the Chamber or the Senate).
The Federal Attorney General’s Office also included a document from , which highlights that “if the determination to cancel the amounts committed to commission amendments after 12/23 is maintained, it is therefore impossible to achieve the minimum application in health”. According to the ministry, of the R$370 million requested, R$330 million would come from amendments indicated by deputies and R$40 million by senators.
The body requests the continuation of execution of the amendments indicated in the documents that were committed until December 23rd, the date of the decision that blocks the resources. As the amendments cannot be transferred to next year, the Federal Attorney General’s Office requests the release of the resources today, the last day of 2024.
