There are probably few people who would not enjoy, for example, bread or canapés with a delicious fish spread from time to time. Did you know how special and refreshing a taste you can add to it with just a few drops of fruit juice? Try it too.

It is also possible in a light version
We often use spread butter for fish spread. This is possible and also very good, but if you want to create a light and fluffy snack, try using soft cottage cheese this time. For this, prepare a can of sardines in their own juice and make sure that there are not many bones in them. But you can also use other fish according to your own taste, for example smoked mackerel.
Just a few ingredients
The basic ingredients, which will make up most of the volume of the spread, then add one more spoonful of mayonnaise (can be replaced with white yogurt for dieters), finely chopped shallots, pepper and salt to taste, and possibly fresh herbs. This time there will also be an announced improvement – and that is about three teaspoons of lime juice for the mentioned amount. Of course, you can add more to your taste.
An ordinary fork will do
The procedure for preparing the fish spread is, as is the case with spreads, very simple. First drain the brine from the sardines and place them in a bowl. Inspect them for bones, then mash them with a fork. Then mix one soft cottage cheese and a spoonful of mayonnaise, spices, onion and prepared citrus juice into this fish mass.
Do you love herbs?
Those who would like to enhance this delicacy with fresh herbs have countless options to choose from, but according to the experts, thyme will “suit” it best, or fresh garlic for lovers of a sharper and more pronounced taste. You can also elevate the resulting effect to other dimensions with a teaspoon of Dijon mustard.
Use it according to your own imagination
The spread is ready, you just have to decide what to do with it. Canapés, which you decorate with walnuts for example, can be one of the excellent options. But you will certainly come up with a lot of other options as well. And if not – then enjoy it just spread on fresh bread. It will surely dazzle you even without big decorations.
