The announced this Tuesday (Dec 31, 2024) that it hired the company that will be responsible for the reconstruction work on the Juscelino Kubitschek bridge, on BR-226, which connects the states of Maranhão and Tocantins. The Penedo-Neópolis Consortium will be responsible, formed by the construction companies and.
The hiring was of an emergency nature, which eliminates the need for a bidding process. The cost for rebuilding the structure will be R$ 171,969,000.00. Gaspar is a company based in Natal (RN) and managed by Arnaldo Neto Gaspar and Bernardo Serrano Rocha Pereira Gaspar. Arteleste is headquartered in São José dos Pinhais (PR). It is managed by partners Tulio Gabrile Beltrão Carvalho and Carlos Pedro Macho Fischer.
The bridge will be demolished and rebuilt. The government estimates that the works will be completed by December 2025.
According to the general director of Dnit, Fabrício Galvão, the reconstruction project includes improvements to the structure, such as widening the bridge, installing a cycle path, shoulder and pedestrian crossing.

The Juscelino Kubitschek bridge collapsed on December 22. The accident occurred on the BR-226 highway, over the Tocantins river, in the region of Estreito (MA). The Ministry of Transport began an investigation to determine the causes of the collapse. To date, the Navy has 11 deaths.
