Hundreds of films have been shot in New York, but fans associate the city most with one specific film – “Home Alone in New York.” Every year, millions of Poles sit in front of their TV sets during Christmas and New Year’s Eve and watch their favorite Christmas movie about the adventures of a resolute boy. “Home Alone in New York” is the second part of the extremely popular movie “Home Alone”. While in the first part the main character deals with not very intelligent robbers in his own area (a house in the suburbs of Chicago), in the second part he has to act in a place he is completely unfamiliar with. Kevin arrives in New York by mistake. At La Guardia airport, it turns out that he is alone in a huge city. Instead of staying in the building, the boy decides to conquer the metropolis. Where does it go at first?

At La Guardia Airport, Kevin boards a distinctive yellow taxi. The enormity of the space makes the boy open the window and lean out the window, absorbing the views. This is a scene filmed on the Queensboro Bridge. Viewers may be surprised by the fact that Kevin is alone on the bridge on his way to Manhattan, because the Queensboro Bridge is almost always jammed with traffic.

By the way, Kevin must have been in really good shape, because in New York the distance between Chelsea and China Town is considerable.

After Kevin manages to once again face the inquisitive hotel staff, the boy gets into the limousine and sets off again for New York. It’s a scene straight from a child’s dream! Not only does our hero ride in a limousine where he eats pizza, but he also goes to the place that the youngest dreams about. Duncan’s store – huge, two-story and filled with toys that you can play with on site. If you would like to find it… it’s up to your imagination. There is no such store. It was created for the film. However, the most loyal fans claim that Dunkan’s Toy Chest was played by FAO Schwarz. The oldest toy store in the United States was founded in 1892. The one in the movie is located on 5th Avenue. Since the premiere of “Kevin Alone in New York,” the store has gone through various vicissitudes, including closure. However, on October 24, 2017, it was reopened, to the joy of tourists and the youngest New Yorkers.

Leaving Duncan’s store, Kevin reunites with old friends. This time, both the robbers and our hero know who they are dealing with. The scared boy runs away towards the hotel. On the way, he passes stalls selling hats, watches and beads, which he buys and scatters as he runs, so that the criminals chasing him slip and fall to the ground. There are plenty of such places with gadgets and promotions such as two things for $5 in New York. Kevin can run really fast and is incredibly durable. It literally takes him a moment to get to the steps of Central Park, from where he runs down towards the Bethesda Fountain. This is one of the most popular places in New York. Locals, tourists and newlyweds meet there for a wedding photo session. In the movie, there are horse-drawn carriages around the fountain (Kevin drives one of them), but in reality they are a little further away.

While Kevin’s family sits in a hotel room in Miami, he tries to find his uncle. Peter McCalister’s brother lives in New York. Rob McCalister is currently resting in Paris and his house is undergoing major renovations. Just like Kevin didn’t find his uncle, we won’t find the tenement house in New York where the movie scenes take place. This building is located in Chicago.

After failing to meet his uncle, Kevin heads to Central Park again. The scene in which he walks through the most popular American park at night perfectly shows this place after dark. If you plan to go there, it is better to do it during the day. It may be dangerous in the evening. Fortunately, Kevin met a friendly soul there, a woman feeding pigeons. The final scene also takes place here, in which the police catch the “sticky burglars”. The fireworks fired by Kevin (bought at China Town) put them on their trail. But before that happens, our hero and the Pigeon Girl are going to Carnegie Hall. It is not known how they managed to enter one of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, but they have a serious conversation over a cup of hot chocolate, listening to excellent music. However, before words are spoken about his feelings, Kevin decides to talk about the place he is in. “Beautiful music, and it’s a beautiful place,” says the boy, and it’s hard to disagree with him. Although the Carnegie Hall building does not impress from the outside, its history and the fact that the greatest stars of world music perform here are impressive.

After Kevin saves the profits of Duncan’s toy store, our hero goes to the place where he should have been at the beginning of the movie. After all, the boy loves Christmas trees! This is the biggest clue for Kevin’s mother, who after talking to the police has an epiphany and goes straight to Rockefeller Center. The scene in which Kevin and his mother embrace each other can be touching. Rockefeller Center is home to New York’s most famous landmark. She first appeared there during the Great Depression, on Christmas Eve 1931. The famous star on the top was supposed to be a symbol of hope. The six-meter tree decorated with chains was set up by local workers. The annual tradition of lighting the Christmas tree in front of Rockefeller Center officially began in 1933.
