The 7.5% increase in will have an impact on federal programs, in addition to changing the salary of those who receive the national minimum wage. Pension, unemployment insurance and salary bonus values are among those that will be readjusted starting this Wednesday, January 1, 2025, when the new national floor comes into force.

The President of the Republic, signed the decree, published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) this Tuesday (31), which establishes the new minimum value. Despite the increase, the increase was lower than expected.

The law sanctioned by the president modifies the minimum valuation policy, limiting the real increase (above inflation) to the expenditure ceiling of the fiscal framework, of 2.5% per year above inflation. The measure is part of the Lula government’s spending containment package to rebalance public accounts. If it weren’t for her, the minimum would be corrected to R$1,528.

With the changes, the INSS retiree who currently receives the minimum will also have a 7.5% adjustment. The salary of those who earn more, however, will be corrected by the INPC. In the 12 months up to November, the index is 4.84%. In the case of unemployment insurance, the amount will also follow the minimum wage. The federal government, however, is considering changing the benefit rules.
