The Mexico team and Internacional announced that they will hold a friendly match on January 16th, at Beira Rio, in Porto Alegre. The game is seen by the Mexican team as preparation for the 2026 World Cup, and the Brazilian club will be the Mexicans’ first rival on a tour of South America.
The match is promoted by Adidas, supplier of Mexico and Internacional’s uniforms. Recently, the Rio Grande do Sul club announced the renewal of its contract with the company until 2029.
Adidas has been supplying the club’s uniforms since 2020 and the agreement now guarantees materials for women’s football and grassroots football as well.
The game on January 16th will mark the debut of the new uniforms for the Mexican team and Internacional. The Gaucho club’s shirt will be in honor of the 1975 Brazilian title.
The victory was the first for Inter, who are three-time Brazilian champions, having also won the championship in 1976 and 1979.
