Kelvyn Henrique Mendes Líbanio, 12 years old, who was found dead in the Florida locker room, in Matinhos, last Monday (30), had the dream of being a football player, according to reports from friends on social media.
The boy’s sister, Andressa Vilela, published publications reporting the boy’s disappearance and asking for help to find him, on Sunday (29), the last day he was seen alive. According to reports, the young man was pulled by the current in the Praia Grande resort, also in Matinhos.
In the publications, the sister shared her cell phone number, which helped the family locate the body even before the Fire Department arrived. In a note released by the institution, firefighters state that people walking on the sandy strip located the body and, when the military arrived at the scene, the family was already present. With this, it was possible to quickly recognize the boy’s identity.
“The victim’s family was already at the scene when the Fire Department arrived and confirmed that it was the 12-year-old child, who went missing after drowning on Sunday afternoon (29) outside the area protected by lifeguards at Balneário de Praia. Grande – Matinhos”, says the note from the firefighters.

Since the beginning of Operation Summer, with the activation of lifeguard posts on December 14, firefighters have recorded eight deaths on the coast of Paraná. In addition to the boy, the other three happened on Saturday (28). All fatal cases of drowning occurred in places not protected by lifeguards or outside the stations’ opening hours, which are from 8 am to 7 pm.
Therefore, the Fire Department warns vacationers to take due care and respect the guidelines. Entering the sea only in places close to the lifeguard stations, and within the appropriate hours, guarantees everyone’s safety.
