The president () underwent a new tomography this Tuesday (31) and the result is “progressive improvement”, according to a bulletin from the medical team.
The information was released by Palácio do Planalto, late in the morning. The tomography, according to the medical report, is for control. His trip to the Sírio Libanês hospital in Brasília to take the exam was not informed in advance or published on the agenda.
“President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was today, 12/31/24, at the Sírio-Libanês Hospital, Brasília unit, to repeat the imaging exam. The tomography shows significant reabsorption of the subdural collection, showing progressive improvement consistent with the excellent condition of the president”, says the text signed by doctors Rafael Gadia and Luiza Dib.
The hospital even released a bulletin minutes earlier, but it was reconsidered. In the first, there was talk of a “control tomography”, and it also said that the “result reinforces an important improvement in relation to Lula’s initial condition”.
The president was discharged from hospital on Sunday (15), after six days in hospital in São Paulo. Upon leaving the hospital, from where he went straight to the airport, the president posed for photos and waved to the press and supporters.
Lula wore a hat, as in all public appearances since then. The accessory hides the scars left by the procedures carried out.
The agent had one on the 10th due to a three-centimeter hematoma between the brain and one of the membranes (meninges) that surround the organ. The clot was detected after he felt severe headaches, when he was taken to the São Paulo hospital.
After discharge, he returned to Brasília, but with a less intense schedule and no travel. This Tuesday’s exam was the first after medical authorization.
According to his cardiologist Roberto Kalil, when he was discharged, the president will have some restrictions over the next 30 days, such as intense physical activity and international travel. Lula must still have tomographic monitoring until complete healing, which can take 45 to 60 days.
On the occasion, Lula spoke to journalists in São Paulo. He spoke about his hospitalization and said he was scared. He thanked God for taking care of him, citing previous situations in which his health was at risk, such as when he and his son.
“I never think I’m going to die, but I’m afraid,” said the president, who said he was scared by the condition that led to emergency surgery on Tuesday (10).
The PT member said he was cutting his fingernails in October this year when he fell and injured himself. “The only surprise I had was that I thought I was cured [depois da queda]”.
