Milanović scored points in Croatia’s presidential election with anti-Western positions

There has been a hangover mood within the conservative Croatian ruling party HDZ since Sunday. Hardly anyone expected that President Zoran Milanović would beat his conservative challenger Dragan Primorac so clearly. Milanović narrowly missed the absolute mark with 49.1 percent of the vote. Although he has to go into the runoff election on January 12th against Primorac, who received 19.3 percent of the vote, the race is already over.
