After Christmas celebrations, tablecloths look like a battlefield map, wine, coffee or food stains can be a nightmare. Are you wondering how to make your tablecloths shine again without having to invest in expensive cleaning products? There is a simple and surprising solution that you probably already have at home.
Aspirin, commonly used to relieve headaches, is a great aid in bleaching fabrics. It contains acetylsalicylic acid, which has the ability to break down organic residues and remove stubborn stains. This effective trick is also gentle on fabrics, so it won’t harm the tablecloths even after repeated use. You will appreciate this method not only for tablecloths, but also for other white linen that loses its brightness over time.

Preparation of washing solution
The easiest way to use aspirin is to prepare a solution for soaking your laundry. Fill the basin with hot water, dissolve two to three aspirin tablets in it and insert the tablecloths. Leave them soaked for about an hour to allow the acid to take effect. After this time, you will see how the stains dissolve and the fabric regains its brightness. Afterwards, wash the tablecloths in the usual way in a washing machine with white laundry powder.
If you don’t have time to soak, you can also use aspirin while washing. Just crush a few tablets and add them directly to the washing machine drum. This procedure is particularly suitable for heavily soiled pieces. Crushing the tablets ensures better solubility when washing at lower temperatures.
Removal of yellow spots in the armpits
Aspirin isn’t just useful for tablecloths. If you have unpleasant yellow underarm stains on your clothes, this remedy is a great solution. Prepare a solution of one to two aspirin tablets and a little water, apply it directly to the spots and rub in gently. Leave it on for about half an hour and then wash the clothes. In this way, you will remove not only stains, but also unpleasant odors.
What to watch out for
Aspirin is an excellent helper, but it is important to remember that its bleaching abilities can affect colored fabrics. Therefore, use it exclusively on white fabrics where there is no risk of fading. If you’re not sure, try aspirin on a small, inconspicuous piece of fabric.
Using aspirin is not only effective, but also gentle on your budget.
