It took more than eight years, in one of the most publicized divorces ever. There is an agreement on the division of marital and property rights.
It was September 2016 when the one that shook many celebrity fans came out: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt file for divorce.
Without being official, the indication that emerged was that there was an “ugly” argument on a private plane, when Jolie accused Pitt of being abusive towards her and their children.
What was left behind was a relationship that lasted 12 years, with six children between them.
It was not yet known, but that was the first of many news about a separation that lasted more than eight years.
There were legal battles, disagreements regarding essential issues, and the divorce agreement never came again.
Until, even as 2024 closed, this Monday, the couple filed a joint statement in the Los Angeles Superior Court. There is agreement on division of marital and property rights.
The agreement includes the couple’s waiver of any future financial support for the spouse.
Regarding the two children who are still minors, equal custody of the children was granted.
Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, explained that the actress and her children “left behind all the properties they had shared with Brad Pitt and has since focused on finding peace and healing for his family.”
“This is just one part of a long process that began eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved that this part is over”, quotes .
Another process
Now about the famous property shared space between the couple over the Château Miraval vineyard, in France, Court visits must continue.
Brad Pitt accused his ex-wife of selling his half of the winery to a company – without his consent.
This legal battle must continue, as this divorce agreement does not interfere in this process over the cellar.
