If Constanze Geiger were still alive, it would seem all too natural for her to find her Ferdinandus Waltz in the repertoire of the New Year’s Concert. The composer, pianist and actress, who was probably overly motivated as a child prodigy by her mother Teresia, a hat maker, was a valued artist whose prominence even brought her ironic and sarcastic fame from satirist Moritz Gottlieb Saphir.
