A Brazilian tourist died after being run over in Buenos Aires this Wednesday morning (1). The man, aged around 60, was accompanied by his partner, who was injured due to the impact and was taken to Fernández Hospital. The identity of the victims of the accident in Argentina has not yet been released.
According to the Argentine newspaper Clarionthe accident occurred around 10:30 am, at the intersection between Del Libertador and Alvear avenues, in Recoleta, an upscale neighborhood in the Argentine capital.
A woman lost control of her vehicle, a Nissan Kicks, collided with a traffic light and ended up on the sidewalk, where the couple was waiting to cross. According to the Clarionthe driver was an Argentine gastronomic entrepreneur.
It is not yet known what caused the accident. The woman was accused of “homicide and injuries” and the results of tests to detect the use of alcohol and drugs are still awaited, according to the Argentine publication. Security cameras in the area will also be checked and the driver will give her statement to the Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday (2).
Itamaraty reported having learned of the fact through the press, but has not yet been contacted by the family or local authorities.
