A GNR soldier was violently attacked in the early hours of Wednesday when she was called to an incident of domestic violence in which a two-year-old child was beaten, a source from the corporation told Lusa.
According to the officer on duty at the General Command of the GNR, a GNR team was called to intervene in an alleged situation of domestic violence, around midnight, in Cadaval, a municipality in the Lisbon district, and the soldier was attacked while carrying out her duties. their police intervention functions.
During the incident, a 64-year-old woman, allegedly the attacker’s mother, was also attacked, as well as the two-year-old child and the GNR soldier, all of whom were taken to Torres Vedras Hospital to receive hospital treatment.
The 39-year-old suspect is being held at the GNR station in Cadaval, awaiting the first judicial interrogation to apply coercive measures, which should take place on Thursday.
Another police source told the Lusa agency that the GNR team was alerted by the child’s mother at around 11:55 pm to a situation of domestic violence in Cadaval, during a New Year’s Eve celebration.
Upon arriving at the scene, the two GNR members found a 64-year-old woman, mother of the alleged attacker and who had also been attacked, in a situation of cardiorespiratory arrest, which led to an initial intervention by the military and subsequent assistance from the Cadaval Volunteer Firefighters. .
According to reports, the detainee, who has a history of violence, including against authorities, during an argument during New Year’s Eve celebrations, attacked the child, his nephew, with a kick to the head.
The attacker would be under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
When confronting the attacker, who was taking refuge in a house next door, the military police officer was violently attacked, forcing the guard team to request police reinforcement to complete the arrest and take the man to the police station, according to reports.
The child and the elderly woman were transported by the Cadaval firefighters to , where they were assisted and have already been discharged, being now evaluated by a team from the Torres Vedras forensic medicine office, as part of the process.
