The young man, just 26 years old, is the youngest Brazilian referee on the team. The Arbitration Commission of the Brazilian Football Confederation () released the list of nominations for the world entity at the beginning of the year with the name of the São Paulo native and four more assistants. In addition to Candançan, the new names in football to represent the country in the general framework of FIFA from 2025, chosen by the president of the Commission chaired by Wilson Seneme, are the assistant referees Victor Imazu, Gizeli Casaril and Daniella Coutinho and the referee of Marco Fazekas video.

Every beginning of the year, the CBF sends a list to the FIFA Referees Committee, which analyzes and approves them. The new nominations are part of the “renewal process” implemented by the Arbitration Commission. From 2022 to 2024, 50% of FIFA’s roster of central referees was renewed. “In 2024, we saw an advance in arbitration. At the end of the Brazilian Championship and the Brazilian Cup, we had no refereeing complications in the decisive matches. For 2025, we have the prospect that younger referees, with more experience, will be able to perform even better than in 2024”, said the president of the CBF Arbitration Commission, Wilson Seneme.

Candançan becomes Brazil’s 17th main referee with the FIFA emblem. He joins Raphael Claus, Ramon Abatti Abel, Wilton Pereira Sampaio, Anderson Daronco, Flavio Rodrigues de Souza, Rafael Rodrigo Klein, Edina Alves Batista, Bruno Arleu de Araújo, Rodrigo José Pereira de Lima, Paulo Cesar Zanovelli da Silva, Deborah Cecilia Cruz Correia, Daiane Caroline Muniz dos Santos, Charly Wendy Straud Deretti, Andreza Helena Siqueira, Thayslane by Melo Costa and Rejane Caetano da Silva.

“In 2024, Brazilian arbitration was highlighted in international competitions. In the men’s football final at the Paris Olympic Games, the decision between Spain and France featured Ramon Abatti, Rafael Alves, Guilherme Camilo and Daiane Muniz. Daiane, in fact, was also in the VAR booth for the bronze medal match in women’s football between Spain and Germany”, highlighted the CBF.

Brazil also appointed 11 representatives to referee the Copa América, including the team from the final between Colombia and Argentina: referee Raphael Claus and assistants Bruno Pires and Rodrigo Correa, and in VAR, Rodolpho Toski, Danilo Manis, Daniel Nobre and Pablo Gonçalves. Wilton Pereira Sampaio, Edina Alves, Bruno Boschillia and Neuza Back also played throughout the tournament.
