celebrates the beginning of 2025 with a combination of tradition and gastronomy on the first weekend of the year.
On Sunday, January 5th, on the monthly market day, the Moncarapacho Events Pavilion will host the 25th edition of the Encontro de Charolas de Moncarapacho and the 4th Mostra de Xarém de Moncarapacho.
The event starts at 11:00 at Largo do Mercado Mensal de Moncarapacho and features the presentation of several charola groups, including Charola from GD Machados (11:00), Charola from Banda Musical de Tavira (11:30), the Charola of the Casa do Povo da Conceição de Tavira (12:00), the Charola of the Mesquita (12:30) and the Charola of the Banda Filarmónica 1.º de Outubro of Moncarapacho (13:00).
At the same time, from 11:30 am, visitors will be able to taste different versions of xarém – a typical Algarve dish – prepared with ingredients such as seafood, fish sauce, cod, chickpeas or peas.
The Xarém Exhibition has a charitable nature, with profits going to Futebol Clube de Bias, to help repair the damage caused by bad weather in November 2024.
The celebrations continue on Monday, January 6th, with a Charolas Meeting at Cinema Topázio, in Fuseta, organized with the support of the Fusetense Cultural Association.
The performances start at 4:00 pm and feature Charola from Banda Musical de Tavira (4:00 pm), Charola from GD Machados (4:30 pm) and Charola from Banda Filarmónica 1.º de Outubro de Moncarapacho (5:00 pm) ).
This festive weekend promises to bring the community together and celebrate the region’s cultural and gastronomic traditions.
