It was in 2019 that Bruno Pires opened the Casa das Louças store, in the Leiria region. However, this is no ordinary crockery store, as you can find products for sale there for just 50 cents. During the first five years of business, demand was so great that, at the end of 2024, Bruno decided to open a new store, also located in Caldas da Rainha. Still, if you are in the Algarve and want to buy crockery for less than a euro, you can also and don’t need to go to Caldas da Rainha.
It’s not easy to find pieces of crockery for sale for 50 cents, but Casa das Louças has proven that it’s possible. Even though the average price of dishes is around two euros per unit, there are some that you can take home for less than one euro. There, items are sold individually and in the catalog you will find both plates and mugs, cups, vases, glasses and platters that are 100% Portuguese.
To , the store’s founder explains that the business differentiates itself through regular promotions. You can find, for example, sets of three pieces at three euros, which can be made up of all types of proposals. Opportunities are limited in duration and vary over time, which means that with each new visit you will find a different one.
In addition to regular promotions, you can count on the possibility of purchasing different types of crockery without even having to take a 10 euro note out of your wallet.
Although the two Casas da Louça stores are in the western region of Portugal, it is possible to purchase their crockery online. There is also another way to buy crockery outside of Caldas de Rainha, which involves paying attention to the business and checking the dates and places where the owner will organize small markets. In 2024, for example, Bruno Pires headed to Monte Gordo, in the Algarve, to sell some of his best pieces of crockery.
