Although investigators explored various avenues, including the possibility of an accident, a runaway, or a kidnapping, the outcome of this case was disastrous.
It was at the end of last March that a hiker was found on a path located on the heights of the commune of Vernet a “little ball“, and “skull, all white”on the way, “centered, right in the middle”. The piece of skull was found more than a kilometer and a half from where the little boy was last seen alive… Following the identification of the child, the gendarmerie carried out new searches which made it possible to find, over the following days, as well as clothes. Several months after the terrible discoveries, our colleagues at BFM YOU SAY revealed that the funeral of Émile Soleil will be held on February 8 in the Var. According to our colleagues, the little boy’s family has planned “a ceremony in two stages”. The first will be a mass open to the public which will be celebrated in the Sainte-Marie Madeleine basilica in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume. The second stage after the religious part will consist of the burial of the child in the Haut-Vernet cemetery, and this “in the strictest privacy”. “It is a ceremony of thanksgiving for the life of this child and contemplation for his departure”declared Me Dominique Rey, bishop of the diocese of Fréjus-Toulon.
