One pensioner lost her life in a fire which broke out on Thursday in one of the apartments of a nursing home in Karlovy Vary. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames relatively quickly and after the premises were ventilated, most residents were able to return to their apartmentswrites TASR according to the Karlovarské deník report.
Several apartments were so damaged by the fire that they are currently uninhabitable. The municipality provided alternative accommodation for eight people, mostly with limited mobility.
After extinguishing the fire and subsequent inspection of the burned-out apartment unit the body of an 87-year-old woman who lived there was foundthe local police announced. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
