São Paulo International Airport, in Guarulhos, recorded a new historical record for passengers transported in 2024, totaling 43.6 million travelers, according to a statement released this Wednesday (1st).
The previous record for passengers was recorded in 2019, when 43 million people disembarked or boarded at the airport in Guarulhos, also known by the code GRU.
In December alone, 3.9 million passengers were transported in around 22,300 landings and takeoffs, according to the statement.
The numbers were that 8% more people moved at the airport compared to the average for the other months of the year.
Among the most popular national destinations in December, Recife came in first place, followed by Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro. Among international destinations, Santiago (Chile) and Buenos Aires are the most popular. Miami, Lisbon, Bogotá, Madrid and Rome complete the list.
On average, more than 119 thousand passengers passed through the airport per day in 2024, traveling on one of the 820 daily flights to more than 100 international and national destinations.
