The woman allegedly harassed the ambassador incessantly, with hundreds of daily emails with confessions of love and threats, before being hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation.
An employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE) was hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation, after being accused of sexually harass obsessively an ambassador since 2023.
The woman sent hundreds of daily emails to the diplomat, containing love oaths and threats for not being reciprocated, with references to jealousy and insinuations about an extramarital relationship with the ambassador, says .
The case gained prominence in the middle of last year, when the General Diplomatic and Consular Inspectorate opened an inquiry after the complaints. The employee even filed a complaint against the diplomat, but the case was closed due to lack of evidence.
At the same time, the investigation revealed that the accused broke the computer of work to try to destroy the compromising messages. However, the data was recovered and the messages forwarded to the Public Ministry.
The exchanges of messages include threats to expose the ambassador to his partner and expressions of jealousy towards other colleagues. The case remains under internal investigation at the MNE, which confirms the opening of two processesone against the employee, still ongoing, and the other against the diplomat, already archived.
The MNE declared that the employee is currently in situation of justified absences and clarifies that the incident dates back to years before the entry of the current Government.
The investigation is in charge of the General Diplomatic and Consular Inspectorate, without direct interference from the ministry. “There is not and cannot be, on the part of the ministry, access to the ongoing procedure, its terms being unknown until its respective conclusion”, says the MNE.
