According to a statement released last Monday, the operation began with the identification of two vessels known as “narcolanchas” entering the Guadalquivir River. The authorities mobilized air, sea and land resources to monitor the vessels, confirming that they were unloading a large quantity of bales, which were later transported to a farm guarded by armed men.
Three people were detained, and authorities also seized two vehicles and an AK-47 type weapon. During the searches, two underground caches made up of maritime containers, used by the criminal organization to store drugs, were discovered.
The authorities highlighted the impact of this operation in combating drug trafficking networks operating on the Guadalquivir River, one of the main entry points for drugs into Europe. This coup represents yet another effort by the Guardia Civil of Andalusia in the fight against trafficking and money laundering in the region.
