A rare aurora borealis last night lit up the skies of Inner Mongolia for about three hours. The green, red and purple light show was captured on video and the images are stunning.
It is a phenomenon that usually occurs in high latitude areas in the northern and southern hemispheres, that is, closer to the north and south poles. It happens thanks to solar winds that hit the Earth’s magnetic field.
Now it was the Mongolians’ turn to attend the event that brings thousands of people to visit the Nordic countries. Between 19:00 and 22:00 (local time), the Northern Lights painted the skies over the city of Ergun, Mongolia.
Although rare, in the last two years it has been relatively frequent this show in the skies over this city in Mongolia, which is why it has become a popular destination among enthusiasts.
In addition to Ergun, the northern lights also appeared in the skies over the city of Mohe, in the Chinese province of Heilongjiang.
