The new president of the City Council of , the councilor (União Brasil) made a commitment with his party’s bench that he will only remain in office for one year, that is, he will not run for re-election in 2026.
The reason was to ensure rotation in the command of the House, which, according to an agreement between the mayor’s base parties (), will remain with União Brasil for the four years of the legislature.
In this scenario, the favorite to succeed Teixeira is (União). He, however, became disaffected with Nunes after supporting Pablo Marçal (PRTB) in last year’s election.
The mayor then vetoed the councilor’s name for the presidency of the Chamber in 2025. Recently, Rubinho has been seeking rapprochement with Nunes. At the end of December, they had a friendly conversation over the phone to break the ice.
If this scenario is confirmed, Teixeira could join Nunes’ secretariat in 2026. He has already commanded the Subprefectural, Green and Traffic departments.
