Ten people were injured, including teenagers, in a shooting outside a nightclub in New York. The police stated this Thursday (2) that the victims are not at risk of death and ruled out that the case was terrorism.
About 15 people were in line at the Amazura nightclub, at 11:15 pm on Wednesday, January 1, in the neighborhood of Jamaica, Queens, when men on foot approached the group, made up of young people aged 16 to 20, and opened fire . There were approximately 30 shots.
Police are searching for the suspects, who fled on foot and were later seen getting into a car with license plates from another state.
“Officers responded to multiple 911 calls and found a total of 10 victims – six women and four men – who were taken to area hospitals. All victims are expected to recover from their injuries, which are not life-threatening,” New York Police Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera said at a press conference.
Rivera said there was “zero tolerance for these senseless attacks.”
He also highlighted that this is not a terrorist act, although the motivations for the crime are still unknown.
